ProCogo 2.0 will not print to a network printer over a Windows 2000 network.
Solution Applies to: ProCogo 2.0 (retired)

Discussion:
When printing to a network printer connected to a Windows 2000 machine, ProCogo 2.0 apparently has an issue with printing to a TCP/IP port using a UNC designation (ie: \\ServerName\ShareName). In the solution below, the local printer port is mapped to the network printer, allowing ProCogo 2.0 to believe it is printing to a local LPT port rather than a TCP/IP network port. This is achieved by using the 'net use' command to map a local printer to the network printer.

Solution:
One solution is to upgrade to ProCogo 2005, which is a full 32-bit program and does not have this problem. Another solution is to try the following workaround with ProCogo 2.0.

  1. On the workstation that is running ProCogo, add a local printer using LPT1 as the printer port. The local printer that you add should be the same printer model and driver as the network printer that you are attempting to print to.
  2. Open up a DOS window by selecting the Start button, then Programs, Accessories, and finally Command Prompt.
  3. Enter the following command at the command prompt (without quotes). Substitute "PrintServerName" and "PrintShareName" with the name of the print server and network printer on your system. "net use lpt1 \\PrintServerName\PrintShareName /persistent:yes"
Notes:
This command will work for all Windows NT, 2000 and XP systems.

Status:
This is a known issue with ProCogo 2.0 as it is a 16-bit program.
